BOX ELDER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
Box Elder School District serves the entire population of Box Elder County. Currently in Box Elder County there are two high schools: Bear River High in Tremonton/Garland and Box Elder High in Brigham City serving grades 10-12. The School District has recently revamped the school structure creating two middle schools which serve grades 8 - 9: Bear River Middle School in Tremonton/Garland and Box Elder Middle School located in Brigham City. Two new intermediate schools serving grades 6-7 are the Alice C. Harris Intermediate in Tremonton/Garland and the Adele C. Young Intermediate in Brigham City. The nineteen elementary schools will serve kindergarten through fifth with the exception of Grouse Creek and Park Valley schools which will serve the K-10 grades in those outlying areas.

- JTPA: The Job Training Partnership Act provides two programs for industrial employers: 1) classroom training programs that prepare prospective employees in a vocational field, and 2) on-the-job training programs that pay a percentage of the employee's wage during the training program.
- VOCATIONAL/TECHNICAL TRAINING: Vocational/technical training is available on three levels: 1) the Box Elder School District provides educational and vocational training within Box Elder County; 2) the Bridgerland Applied Technology Center, located in Logan, 23 miles east, trains adults and secondary students for a wide variety of skilled occupations and also offers in-house or in-plant training tailored to the needs of a particular firm; and 3) Utah State University, 25 miles east, and Weber State University, 40 miles south, offer vocational/technical programs suited for industry.
- JOB SERVICE: Job Service provides an employee referral service. In addition, they provide labor market information for decisions concerning plant sites, personnel programs, affirmative action plans, recruitment/training programs, and government loans to businesses.

- Renovation and expansion has taken place at the Box Elder County Education Center because of the increased demand for higher education with a shorter travel time. The new expansion project was completed in March 1997.

BRIDGERLAND APPLIED TECHNOLOGY CENTER
- Winter enrollment at Bridgerland's Brigham City Campus numbered approximately 600 students. Programs offered to high school students include: Building Construction, Critical Work Place Skills, Dental Assisting, Fashion Merchandising, Health Science, Interior Design, Marketing,Medical Assisting, and Nurse Aide.
- Evening classes, taught by local professionals from Box Elder County are: CPR, Emergency Medical Technician, (EMT), Microsoft Word, and Effective Communication. Enrollment at these evening classes numbers over 400 participants.
- Custom Fit, a customized training program partnership between vocational/technical institutions and the business community, provides employee training in a multitude of areas ranging from software, safety and company specific programs.
- There are state funds available for new training and retraining. Vern Gunnell, Coordinator for Custom Fit Training, is available to help new and existing companies with funding and planning their training needs. ( For information contact Vern Gunnell 435 750-3141)
- Box Elder County residents are provided education and vocational training by the Box Elder School District. The district has one high school (grades 9 through 12); one middle school (grades 6 through 8); and two elementary schools (grades K through 5).
COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES:
- Utah has six four-year, degree-granting universities and colleges, including four state institutions and two private institutions. The University of Utah, Utah State University and Brigham Young University are the largest institutions in terms of student enrollment, number of degrees conferred and research and development expenditures. In recent years, more than one-quarter of all students either worked on graduate degrees or declar3ed undergraduate majors in science, engineering, agriculture, natural resources, mining and minerals, or medicine and pharmacy. Total student enrollment in Utah public and private four-year, degree granting universities and colleges in fall 1994 was 108,755.
- Utah State University: Utah State University is a 332 acre campus, located in a mountain setting 25 miles East of Tremonton. Utah State University was established in 1888 and has been recognized as a world center for arid land ecology. There are eight undergraduate divisions including: Agriculture, Business, Education, Engineering, Family Life, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Natural Resources and Science. Utah State University Extension Campus is located in Brigham City and is currently serving 250 continuing education students and 150 high school students taking advanced placement classes.
- Weber State University: Weber State University is a 356 acre campus located 53 miles South of Tremonton. It is a state run institution offering programs in liberal arts, science, business education, social science and education, as well as pre-professional programs.
- University of Utah: The University of Utah is an urban university offering 63 bachelor degrees, more than 50 teaching majors and minors, and graduate degrees in 90 disciplines. The University of Utah's Law, Biomedical, and Medical programs are recognized nationally for progressiveness and innovation. Located in Salt Lake City 78 miles South of Tremonton.
- Westminster College: Westminster College of Salt Lake City is a four-year, independent, non sectarian institution. It offers students a choice of 25 undergraduate programs and majors as well as masters degrees in education and business administration and is located 78 miles South of Tremonton.
- Brigham Young University: Brigham Young University was established as a private institution operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 115 miles South of Tremonton. The University confers the B.A., B.S., B.Mas., and B.F.A degrees. Associate, Masters, and Doctoral degrees are also awarded. The J. Reuben Clark Law School is also located on the BYU campus.
- Salt Lake and Utah Valley Community Colleges: Salt Lake and Utah Valley Community Colleges are two year institutions which offer comprehensive curricula and training opportunities for occupation, college transfer, adult and continuing education, developmental and vocational, and other applied, technical and general education.
